Hobgoblin Beer
The Hobgoblin Inn
An hour-long interactive branded live world for Hobgoblin and Hobgoblin Inn, mixing branded action with live production.
An interactive livestream audiences could step inside.
The Challenge
This was not simply a livestream. The idea depended on the audience being able to influence what happened inside the show in real time: online viewers could interact with the host through the production gallery, choosing contestants for a specially created Halloween banquet and helping, or hindering, players attempting to escape from a purpose-built escape room. If the players failed, they stayed locked inside for the rest of the show.
That interactivity meant the production had to bring together the creative format, live direction, audience responses and technical systems without disrupting the pace of the programme.
The venue presented another problem: it looked perfect for the fictional Hobgoblin Inn, but it had no usable internet connectivity and nowhere near enough electrical capacity for the production.
The Method
Rather than compromise the idea to suit the venue, we built the production infrastructure around it. Working alongside Clarity Comms, we helped turn the fictional Hobgoblin Inn into a live Halloween gameshow designed to make the online audience part of the action rather than passive viewers.
Together, Method and Clarity handled the development of the show, including scripting, casting, locations and décor, while Urban Audio provided staging, lighting and audio support throughout.
Method took responsibility for the technical production: live production and technical planning, internet connectivity and bonded 4G transmission, power distribution and generators, staging and lighting, integration with the production gallery, routing live audience interactions to the host, and managing the technical requirements of an hour-long interactive broadcast. The aim was to keep all of that complexity invisible to the audience.

What We Delivered
A one-hour interactive Halloween gameshow, live from a venue with no usable connectivity and nowhere near enough power. Development of the show with Clarity Comms: scripting, casting, locations and décor. Full technical production: bonded 4G transmission, generators and power distribution, staging, lighting and gallery integration, with live audience interactions routed to the host in real time. What the audience saw was an hour of entertainment inside the Hobgoblin Inn. Behind it was a production designed to keep the show live, interactive and moving regardless of the limitations of the location.
“We knew the campaign was a strong idea that would depend on the execution. [Method] were the perfect choice to help us deliver this innovative project. The results were fantastic and show that brands can create high-value content and find strong audiences at a fraction of the cost of traditional media options.”
