About Method

Making good things happen with film.

We’re Method in Motion, a small, experienced production company making purposeful films for organisations with something worth saying.

Our work ranges from simple interviews and case studies to brand films, campaigns, live captures and multi-camera productions. Some briefs are straightforward. Some have a lot more moving parts. Either way, we bring the same care, thinking and attention to detail.

Method is led by producer and filmmaker Matt Taylor, who has more than 25 years’ experience in film and television, including 11 years at the BBC. Around every project, we build the right team from a trusted network of directors, DOPs, camera operators, editors, animators, sound specialists and live production crew.

So you get a small, friendly team that knows your project properly, with the experience and specialist support to scale up when the job needs it.

Simple brief? Great. Complicated one? Also great.

Not every project needs a cast of thousands. Sometimes the job is one person, one camera and a really good story. Sometimes it’s multiple locations, lots of contributors, animation, a live audience, tight deadlines and a few technical challenges thrown in for good measure.

We like both.

What matters is working out what the project actually needs, keeping the process simple and bringing in the right people, no more and no less.

That means smaller briefs still get proper thought and proper care, while bigger productions get the experience, planning and specialist team they need.

Not sure what you need yet?

That’s completely fine.

Sometimes a brief starts with “we need a film” and, once we’ve talked it through, an animation, a series of short edits or a completely different format turns out to be the better answer.

If you know exactly what you need, great: send us the brief and we’ll get stuck in.

If you don’t, we’re just as happy to have a chat, work out what you’re trying to achieve and suggest the best way to get there.

No hard sell. No forcing a format. Just a useful conversation about what will work best.

How we work

Purposeful films, made possible.

  1. 01

    Have a chat

Every project starts with a conversation. What are you trying to achieve? Who needs to watch it? Where will it live? What absolutely needs to be included? And what would a good result look like? Sometimes that conversation confirms exactly what you had in mind. Sometimes it sends us in a better direction.

  2. 02

    Work it out

We shape the creative approach, plan the production and build the right team around the brief. Sometimes that team is tiny. Sometimes it involves a lot more people and kit. Either way, we keep the process clear, practical and focused on what the project actually needs.

  3. 03

    Make it happen

This is where the planning pays off. We run the shoot, keep things moving and adapt when we need to. Whether it’s a simple interview or a live multi-camera production, the aim is the same: make the day feel straightforward and get great material.

  4. 04

Make your films work harder for you

We don’t just think about the main film. From the start, we look at how your footage could work across different platforms, audiences and formats, whether that’s shorter social edits, cutdowns, event content, animations or something useful for a future campaign. The idea is simple: get as much value as possible from what we’ve made, without creating extra content just for the sake of it.

The team

Small by design. Bigger when we need to be.

Method is led by Matt Taylor, a producer and filmmaker with more than 25 years’ experience across television, film and branded content. Matt spent 11 years at the BBC before moving into independent production, and now leads Method projects from the first conversation through to final delivery.

Around him is a trusted network of brilliant people we’ve worked with over many years: directors, DOPs, camera crews, sound recordists, editors, animators, drone operators and live production specialists. We put together the team each project actually needs.

That keeps things personal, flexible and efficient, while giving us the experience and specialist support to take on much bigger productions when required.

Good people. Good ideas. Proper planning.

Making the whole thing less stressful than you might expect.

That’s really the aim.

We want clients to feel looked after, know what’s happening and trust that the project is in safe hands, whether we’re filming one interview or coordinating something much more complicated.

And ideally, we’ll have a decent cup of tea somewhere along the way.
